Bad at Goodbyes

 

After my mom

Cut + dropped me off

Watched old + older man

Shake hands, nervous laugh;

In-laws, I assume

Failed finishing move: elder wheels abruptly

Joining stuttering boarding queue

That suddenly stops.

To leave would mean goodbyes, so younger hangs back,

Engineer's rap on gigantic mass-produced plastic planter,

"What is that? Some kind of composite?"
