Bright Eyes
Still amazed
Knew right away
That day; can’t say I remember
Details; you were far from legal
But like childhood
Only had a feeling of
“This one is different”
Potential to love me
Made your wiry arm muscles bulge
Skin strain. Bright eyes
Engaged all around her
A look that informed
“I’m your equal; you’re not inferior”
It’s taken sunlight refracted through
Facets of a unique jewel
Tapping on my eyelids
To wake me. Sole fragment
From my dreamscape dancing
In a dingy world touching the
Pain that put me to sleep in
The first place. I ran after you
Enraged, desperate, insane
“How dare you wake me?!
How dare you?!” Still running.
All I want is to go back to sleep!
But like childhood
It’ll never be the same again
So I must go on living,
Awake with the pain
Of caring.
